A glimmer of light...
Spring Break is ancient history. Back to the old grind, reading and working everyday...but that's okay. I mean, if I didn't have work and school, what would I do all day? Probably nothing good for me, that's for sure. So I do appreciate my job and my classes, because they challenge me to get out of bed, do something productive, expand my mind, learn everyday and socialize with other people.
It's almost April now, so I'm getting a little bit of Spring Fever, already dreaming of the summer (Six Flags season tickets, anyone?), yet dreading finals (giant papers, here I come). But something else is making me a little more excited than apprehensive. I've been asked to go to Mexico City with a small group of students and professors in my department for a week-long research trip, working in the National Archives! I've already bought my plane ticket (less than $200, can you believe it!?), and I'm trying to practice my Spanish more now. I felt so honored that my Latin American professor asked me to come along, and the other girls that are coming are my friends, so we're just going to have a grand ole time. We'll leave June 6 and come back June 13, meaning I'll miss Derek's birthday and our first wedding anniversary, but oh well!
So those are my thoughts right now. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for this semester, the work is mostly done in my classes now (just a few papers left!), and I'm going on a great trip right at the beginning of summer! This has been a much better semester than the last, and I feel like I have learned so much more than last semester too.
I'm just in a really good mood. :-)
