Poorer than a church mouse

Well, it's that time again, ladies and gentlemen. Back to school. And we all know what that means: spending lots of money on textbooks. After only three classes of graduate school, I am now approaching the $600.00 mark of indebtedness to Amazon.com. Why do history teachers make you READ so much?? Well, it's so you can learn, I know, but seriously. Why don't they just read the books to us? That's what my third grade teacher did, and I loved it.

Anyway, I am in my second week of school now, and really enjoying my classes. A U.S. women's history class, the required Historical Approaches and Interpretations class (with an emphasis on China--the prof is Chinese), and, my specialty, a colonial Latin American history class. Yea! This semester will tough but I look forward to the challenge. In the meantime, realize that I probably won't have a life until oh, May, so I may not be posting as often as I do now. But don't give up on me! I'll be back! Have a great week everyone.

did NOT want to get up this morning

Well, today it was back to work for Miss Mary. When the alarm button went off at 6:45 am, I thought, hmmmmm, snooze button. As I drove along I-10 with the three other people who had to be at work today, I sighed and wondered why I had to go to an office and sit at a computer for 4 hours when everyone else got off today???!!! Even worse, everyone else in my office decided to take a personal leave day as well, so I'm really all by myself. On the plus side, that means I don't actually have to work... At least I only work in the mornings and I don't have to stay here all day. If that was the case, I would probably have to develop a severe case of shingles or some such disease and leave at lunchtime, not to return for the rest of the day. Haha, if only. Well, happy new year everyone, and remember: if you get to sleep in--enjoy it!
