I'm sure you even care

Hello faithful friends, this is your not-so-faithful friend Mary, finally getting around to writing about her life once more on her blog. Truth be told, this has been a very busy semester, and yes, I know that is no excuse to keep you waiting for my next move, but I just wanted to get that out in the open.

Moving on, well, let's see, my last post was about going to Nashville in February...wow, that was quite a while ago. Since then, I have been working on the paper that I went to research there. In fact, I turn in my final draft next Wednesday! I can't believe this semester is almost over and that I'm almost done with that paper. It has been the hardest paper I've ever had to write, not because of the subject matter but because of the work involved. I will admit, I could have worked harder, but I think I did a decent job and I hope to turn in a nice paper come May 2.

Besides that paper, I've also been diligently reading and writing for my American Women's History class taught by Dr. Kirsten Gardner. I've really learned a lot in that class - and I must say I have enjoyed it! Also besides school I have stayed at it with my two jobs, working 40 hours a week to keep the bills paid. I made a quick trip to Abilene during Spring Break, and have attended more than a few track meets for UIW where Derek coaches. Road trips - love 'em!

As the semester FINALLY winds down, I am excited about the summer. I'm surprised at my excitement, mainly because I'm just going to be working and doing more schoolwork over the course of the summer, finishing my Mexico City research paper (yes, the one from LAST summer's trip, I know, I am a slacker!) and taking a Summer 2 class. I think that I am finally getting used to grad school and starting to like it - now that I am about to graduate and leave.

I'm mostly excited right now about May, because it means the end of the semester, another trip to Abilene, and then a Memorial Day trip to Fredericksburg for the hubby and me.

I'm also planning a trip to New Orleans for sometime in the summer. Why New Orleans, you ask? Why not! But seriously, I love the city and always have. My family has visited it a number of times before, but I have not been able to go back since Katrina hit. I'd like to go back and do my part to help the economy. If that means eating out a lot and staying in a French Quarter hotel and visiting attractions and seeing historical sights, then I am resigned to my fate.

So those are my thoughts as of now...sorry I didn't write for so long. You understand. You always do.
